Yes, we know, it took us almost two whole weeks to report about the first and latest WMCQ in Zürich. But here we are and we have some juicy stuff for you! Number crunching, photos, deck lists and of course some winners!
Qualifications for the WMCQs 2012
The last GP and FNM to qualify for the WMCQs 2012 is in the books and we have a total of 126 players eligible players to battle for the three spots on the national team:
Qualified players for the WMCQs 2012
And how does it look for the last spot? Currently leading is Andreas Ganz with 24 points, as he finished within Top 32 in Turin. But both Matthias Künzler and Nico Bohny could easily take the spot on the fly with a good finish in Barcelona at PT Avacyn Restored as they currently have 21 and 20 points.
Who do you think is going to lead the team into glory at the World Magic Cup?
New IPG/MTR for the WMCQ
Hi all,
A new Infraction Procedure Guide (IPG) has been published and will take effect just in time for the first World Magic Cup Qualifier (WMCQ). At the same time, a new Magic Tournament Rules (MTR) will take effect (the WMCQ being the first competitive tournament it will be relevant). With about 130 eligible players for the tournament (not counting Turin), we might have one of the biggest tournament in Switzerland beside Nationals (or so I hope). I would therefore like to discuss a few changes that I think might make a difference in the way you play there…
In this post, we will discuss the following new changes:
- Electronic Devices
- Life total and tracking
- Top 8 Play/Draw
- Missed Trigger Infraction
You find all the document in the Document Center of the Wizards Play Network.
Swiss Players @ GP Turin
Hi all,
We would like to congratulate all Swiss players who went to play (or judge!) last week end in Turin (IT)! With 2 Swiss in the top 8 and quite a few earning points, we really think you all did great and hope to see you all at some GP (or WMCQ) nearby soon
PTQ Report: Avacyn Restored in Basel
Hi all,
The other (we only get two slots
) Pro Tour Qualifier Avacyn Restored was in Basel and was great! Despite the dark forces and daylight saving spell that stole everyone 1 hour of much needed sleep, 67 players achieved a successful registration for the tournament. Some were there as the last chance to get the much needed PW points to qualify for the WMCQs, some were there for the much coveted slot to Barcelona and others were there just to have fun (yes, those kind of players still do attend PTQs)…

Organize events – keep control
With the new page also comes an event management tool. Why do we offer it and don’t simply use the one provided by www.magicthegathering.ch? While the idea is great (which is why we want to do something similar), there are too many limitations to the current implementation and we decided to use a different tool for our own events and to share it with any organizer who would also like to use it. First of all, check out the new section under “Events“.
Launch of swissmtg.ch
Hi everybody and welcome to the new home of a large part of the Swiss Magic: The Gathering community. Originally initiated from a local store in Bern we want to gather as many people playing our beloved game all around Switzerland. This page is the starting point for that.
Of course large part of the community stuff still happens over at the board which we’ll move to the new servers very soon. But this page here helps us to keep some static information as well and more important have a better place to announce things like new sets, events and other interesting stuff in the world of Magic.
Last but not least we also want to try to organize the Swiss Magic Judge community a bit better with this new page. So if you’re a judge or you’re interested in judging, stay tuned for further details!
I hope you enjoy our new home and we’ll keep you posted for any interesting new things. If you have any feedback, don’t hesitate to let us know your opinion! Contact us via email, submit a comment or address one of the administrators on the board.
